Call for Doctoral Scholarship Applications 2026 [12.12.25]
We are excited to announce the 2026 UKUDLA Doctoral Scholarships and their Research Topics for German Candidates! This year’s selection spans a wide range of innovative and interdisciplinary research areas — from sustainable agriculture and livestock health to nutrition programmes, data-driven analysis, and global agri-food trade.The African German Centre for Food Systems and Data Science offers scholarships to support a PhD-Thesis research projects in southern Africa in cooperation with one of our partner institutions, funded by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, Germany
- The primary aim of UKUDLA is to develop young scientists’ expertise in sustainable and resilient food systems and applied data science. Applications that integrate both aspects are particularly encouraged.
- The scholarship covers a time period of 36 months (+ 6 months optional extension) with subsistence allowance (e.g. 1.800,00 Euro/month for South Africa/Malawi).
- Applications can be submitted until February 6 2026. After that, any remaining scholarships will be announced until they are filled.
