The UKUDLA (the African-German Centre of Excellence for Food Systems and Data Science), supported by the DAAD, is launching a call for research topics. PhD candidates will submit their proposals in response to the published research topics to become a PhD scholar at the UKUDLA Centre. We are offering scholarships to African and German candidates through two different funding lines. For supervisors at Hohenheim University, German candidates are of particular interest, as they will be affiliated with our university. You can find more information below in the information provided by our partners from Pretoria and Cape Town.

Call Summary & Action

We are now inviting scientists from the University of Hohenheim to specify a research topic that PhD candidates will then have the opportunity to apply to work on.

  • Who to target: Faculties across disciplines related to Food systems (e.g., agriculture, nutrition, economics) and Data science (e.g., statistics, AI, machine learning). We particularly encourage early-career researchers.
  • Core requirement: Suggested topics must reflect the integration of data science with food systems.
  • Benefits: Supervisors can shape the next generation of scientists which, participate in multi-institutional, international research collaborations, and expand their own competencies through ongoing training.
